Art book submissions open January 1, 2018 and close January 31, 2018.
Why publish with NOT A CULT? Why publish at all?
NOT A CULT offers extensive support in the production of books. We work closely with our authors & artists to create a unique piece of collaborative art that meets a high standard of quality & beauty.
A publishing deal covers all expenses, connects you with an excellent team of designers, editors, and proofers to craft a wonderful publication, and establishes your title within our international distribution channel provided by SCB distributors.
Publishing a book is an interesting & sometimes intense process. We encourage you to identify the why behind your book before seeking any sort of publishing arrangement. Having a cogent understanding of the intention behind your book not only entrenches the project within you as a creator, but also clearly communicates the goal of the work to your team beyond the writing table. It aids in informing designers on their approach, editors on how to structure their notes, and our marketing team on how to properly purvey your work to the world.
submission guidelines: poetry
During the month of October, NOT A CULT will accept submissions for full-length poetry books. A Submittable link will become available October 1. Your submission must be formatted as a PDF and should contain no more than five poems. Additionally, there will be a form for a cover letter. In the cover letter field, please include information that provides us with further details about yourself, contact information, and why you’d like to publish a book.
The entry fee for submitting is one purchased book from NOT A CULT. Any title counts. This allows us to support the time of the editing staff so they may properly assess the submissions pool, and it better familiarizes you with the work that the press has produced thus far. The submissions portal will have an input available for the order number on your checkout receipt.
Submissions will be evaluated during the month of November, followed by the announcement of 10 finalists. Finalists must be prepared to submit a full-length manuscript. Finalist manuscripts will be evaluated during the month of December.
NOT A CULT will publish and circulate between three to six finalist submissions, either for Spring or Fall distribution, depending on the timeline of the author.
The editing staff for the 2017 submissions period for poetry are Safia Elhillo, Edwin Bodney, Beau Sia, and Daniel Lisi.
